The greatest battle of a believer is not outside enemies but the war within. The Bible calls it “the flesh.” The flesh is the sinful nature that resists God, loves self, and desires what is contrary to the Spirit.

📖 Galatians 5:17
“For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other…”

This means there is a daily conflict. When you want to pray, something pulls you away. When you want holiness, another voice suggests compromise. That is the flesh fighting your destiny.

WHAT IS THE FLESH?

The flesh is not your physical body; it is the fallen nature inherited from Adam that pushes a person toward sin, pride, lust, anger, jealousy, and rebellion.

📖 Romans 8:8
“So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.”

No matter how gifted or religious a person is, if the flesh is in control, God is not pleased.

SIGNS OF THE FLESH

📖 Galatians 5:19-21
“Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, envyings…”

Where these things dominate, the flesh is ruling.

THE DANGER OF THE FLESH

📖 Romans 8:6
“For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.”

The flesh always leads to spiritual dryness, separation from God, and destruction.

THE SOLUTION TO THE FLESH

God does not reform the flesh; He crucifies it.

📖 Galatians 5:24
“And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.”

You win by surrender, obedience, prayer, fasting, and walking in the Spirit daily.

📖 Galatians 5:16
“This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.”

When the Spirit leads, the flesh loses power.

PRAYER POINT

Lord, expose every work of the flesh in my life. Give me grace to crucify sinful desires and help me walk in the Spirit every day in Jesus’ name.

Victory is not for those who pamper the flesh, but for those who nail it to the cross.
