Into the new year.

In one way it needs a bit of a push to get started again, or to put it in horse terminology, “to get back into harness”. On the other hand, with God the Father being so gracious to us with His blessings day by day, we willingly do get into the harness. To be sure, no encouragement should be needed from the whip!
We give thanks that everyone could remain safe and happy whether travelling or not.
Visitors have come and gone, and it seems that everyone can relate their own story about them in a personal way as well. We thank the Lord for them, especially when they are family members.
A special thankyou to Pastors Abel and David who could be here to lead the worship services. It was also helpful to strengthen the ties that we have with Papua New Guinea as well as with West Australia.
It’s also clear that we are well and truly in the wet season and like all seasons that come and go, it is to be appreciated how the God still upholds and provides for us and the created world in this way.
There is also a season for mourning, as Brenda’s family (and I) need to farewell her mother, Mrs Roelie Kobes this coming week. After a number of days of complications, the Lord called her to Himself and ending a long and faithful life here in earth.
The Lord Jesus Christ Himself said in Matthew 24:36 “But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only”.
This is what we will keep in mind throughout this year, to be ready in and out of season as only God the Father knows the number of our days on earth. There is much that we will be busy with every day, at home, at work, in our personal lives and relationships, in the study of God’s Word in all its forms, in outreach and the list is long. It also means that we need to keep all of this in the right perspective, serving God first and foremost and being ready to partake in the communion of saints.
God will give us blessed year together.
