Hornby Class 50 (Super Detail) diesel locomotive.
A how-to video looking at the replacement of a defective light board, fan assembly removal to improve running/motor performance, and the installation of a LokSound V4 decoder and two speakers (in parallel).
Update: I've been using this loco more recently and I'm really pretty happy with the sound project (by Jamie Goodman). I wasn't sure at the time of recording this video, but I would now recommend it as a decent alternative to the likes of Legomanbiffo.
Items required for the repair, modification work and installation are:
Hornby Class 50 :)
Replacement light board (Hornby code: X9252)
LokSound V4 decoder
Replacement 8 ohm speakers (bass reflex and bass enhanced)
BlackTak
Kapton tape
Heat shrink
Plasticard/sheet styrene
Superglue (medium) & activator
Soldering iron, solder & liquid flux (optional)
Various tools, including: jeweller's screwdrivers, small side cutters and an exacto knife, needle files and a dremel (with metal cutting disc).
Thank you very much for watching.
