Abu Dhabi Grand Prix F1 2025 Season Full Race F1 - Full Match
MAX VERSTAPPEN’S SHOCK TITLE CHANCE?! F1 Championship Decider Scenarios for Abu Dhabi!
The 2025 F1 World Drivers' Championship is going down to the wire! Reigning World Champion Max Verstappen is still mathematically in the fight after a late-season surge, setting up a thrilling three-way showdown with McLaren drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri at the final race in Abu Dhabi.
Despite being 104 points down mid-season, Max is now just 12 points behind leader Lando Norris. Can the Red Bull star complete the most remarkable comeback in F1 history and claim a record-equalling fifth straight title? Or will Norris clinch his maiden championship?
Max Verstappen can still win the 2025 Formula 1 World Drivers' Championship in the final race of the season in Abu Dhabi.
He is currently in a three-way battle for the title, positioned second in the standings heading into the season finale.
Championship Standings & Title Scenarios
As the season goes into the final race, Max Verstappen is only 12 points behind the current leader, Lando Norris. A maximum of 25 points is available for the race winner (plus 1 point for the fastest lap, if they finish in the top 10).
Current Standings
Pos. Driver Team Points Difference to Leader (Norris)
1 Lando Norris McLaren 408 -
2 Max Verstappen Red Bull 396 -12
3 Oscar Piastri McLaren 392 -16
Max Verstappen's Winning Scenarios
To win the World Championship, Verstappen (VER) must outscore Lando Norris (NOR) by at least 13 points, or by 12 points with the fastest lap, and also ensure he finishes ahead of Oscar Piastri (PIA).
His primary scenarios for winning the title are:
Verstappen finishes 1st (25 points): He needs Norris to finish 4th or lower.
If VER wins and gets the fastest lap (26 points), he needs Norris to finish 4th or lower.
Verstappen finishes 2nd (18 points): He needs Norris to finish 8th or lower, and Piastri to finish 3rd or lower.
Verstappen finishes 3rd (15 points): He needs Norris to finish 9th or lower, and Piastri to finish 2nd or lower.
A tie in points would be decided by the number of race wins (all three drivers have 7 wins), and then by the number of second-place finishes, where Norris currently has the edge. Therefore, Verstappen needs to finish ahead of Norris to avoid needing a countback.
