In fact, we enjoyed this place so much we ended up eating there 3-4 times in just a few days. It was that good. All in all we ordered the following food/drink items from the menu:

1) Two glasses of house red wine (200 mL each)
2) Gnocchi with truffles in a truffle cream sauce
3) Black ink risotto with cuttlefish
4) Panna Cotta with berries
5) Cheesecake with sauce

Hey guys! Greetings from the beautiful city of Zadar, Croatia. After a long day filming around town, skipping a proper lunch and only snacking at home, our hunger levels reached their peak. With appetites raging, we set off for our absolute favorite restaurant—Konoba Skoblar—for the third time. Yes, it’s that good! As we made our way through the peaceful, off-season streets of Zadar, all we could think about was indulging in some of the best Croatian food we’ve ever had. If you’re passionate about slow food and meaningful travel, you’ll love this episode.

🍷 Wine to Start: Croatian Reds with Character
We kicked things off in true Mediterranean style: with large, generous glasses of local Croatian red wine. The pours at Konoba Skoblar are anything but stingy—easily 200ml, making for a hearty start to the meal. As we swirled and sipped, we had fun trying to identify the notes: black cherry, raisin, currant—each sip packed with the complex flavors that only Croatian terroir can provide. Wine with pasta has become an essential part of our daily ritual here, blending perfectly with the slower travel rhythm we’ve embraced at the end of this whirlwind year.

🥔🍄 Truffle Gnocchi: The Ultimate Comfort Food
On to the main event: TRUFFLE GNOCCHI. This has become our must-order dish at Konoba Skoblar (and maybe all of Croatia). Imagine pillowy-soft gnocchi, coated in a velvety cream sauce that’s intensely infused with truffles. There are real truffle shavings, plenty of finely grated cheese, and a sauce so aromatic you just want to inhale your meal before taking a bite. The flavor is rich and earthy, the sauce clings to every bite, and every forkful feels luxurious. This dish is pure comfort—no matter how rough your day has been, one plate of truffle gnocchi makes it all better. Sam even admits, for once, that he wants to eat slowly.

🦑 Black Risotto with Cuttlefish: A True Dalmatian Classic
Up next, we dive into another Croatian specialty: black risotto with cuttlefish. The dramatic color—inky black from the cuttlefish ink—evokes Halloween on a plate, but the flavors are deeply savory and oceanic. The risotto is impossibly creamy, with each grain of rice saturated in the rich, briny sauce. The cuttlefish itself is a revelation: not chewy, as you might expect, but tender and melt-in-your-mouth. We marvel at how the subtle white wine undertones balance out the deep seafood notes. Eating this dish, we’re reminded of why we travel: to try new things, to savor authentic regional cuisine, and to discover new favorites in every city. While the gnocchi still wins our hearts, the risotto is a showstopper in its own right.

No epic meal is complete without dessert—especially after two hearty mains. At first, we think about sharing one, but soon decide to go all out: one panna cotta, one cheesecake. The panna cotta comes bathed in a tart berry sauce—raspberry or perhaps lingonberry—perfectly balancing the sweet, creamy base with a tangy pop. The cheesecake, on the other hand, is classic and decadent, with a thick, crumbly graham cracker base and a topping of bright berry sauce. After sampling both, cheesecake wins the ultimate prize for its satisfying richness, though both desserts disappear in record time.

💶 Price, Value & Why We Love Konoba Skoblar
Our decadent, unhurried lunch-dinner (linner?) came to 243 Kuna, or 32 Euros, which covered two huge mains, two generous glasses of wine, and two desserts. We agree: the value for money here is unbeatable, especially considering the quality and portion size. The relaxed pace, kind staff, and authentic Croatian flavors make every visit to Konoba Skoblar special.
