Karnal is a city in the northern Indian state of Haryana, located on the western bank of the Yamuna River. It is historically significant and strategically positioned on National Highway 44 (formerly NH-1), connecting Delhi and Chandigarh.
Karnal is believed to have been founded during the Mahabharata era and is associated with Karna, a legendary warrior and hero of the epic, from whom the city's name is derived.
