Hiking Sycamore Canyon to Rattlesnake Ridge, Whittier, CA.
Sycamore Canyon is a somewhat little known place to hike, which is overshadowed by it's much larger neighbor: Rose Hills Memorial Park. The parking lot is down a driveway and is easy to miss along a busy stretch of Workman Mill Road. However, once on foot, the city is left behind. A few homes visibly hover over the canyon, but it is otherwise appears wild. Out and back is probably less than a 200 foot elevation gain. To spice it up a bit, the connector with Rattlesnake Ridge adds a slight bit more difficulty and some elevation gain. Doing both, or either, makes a great way to kill a few hours on the trail.
