Sunday marks the 25th anniversary since Israeli Air Force navigator Ron Arad was captured after his plane crashed in Lebanon.
Arad who was captured alive by a local Shiite group Amal was later handed over to Hezbollah, and some reports claimed he was later handed over to Iran.
Israel failed to secure Arad's release and strike a deal for his freedom. In 2008 Hezbollah claimed he was no longer alive.
At a recent ceremony to mark the 25th year since his abduction, his wife Tami Arad spoke about the years that have gone by. "The hopes that you will return and open the door vanished years ago, and the expectations shrank to a modest hope just to know what happened to you," she said.
She also spoke about the government's failure to bring her husband home saying no one meant to bring him back and by the time a decision was made to act otherwise the opportunity to return her husband home was lost.
