The Cotswolds are hills in central England that reach over 300 meters above sea level and are sometimes referred to as the center of England. Designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Cleeve Hill is the highest in the hills at 330m.
The Cotswolds are the largest in Gloucestershire and span the states of Somerset, Oxfordshire, Wiltshire, Warwickshire and Worcestershire. Cotswolds means "sheep hill".
The Cotswolds have a long history and flourished in the wool trade. You can still see the buildings that retain the remnants of old England. In the 20th century, the tourism industry that makes use of the scenery has become popular, and many tourists visit every year. The buildings made of yellowish "honey-colored stone" and limestone "Cotswolds stone", also known as "limestone", form a characteristic landscape.
