Rev. Monica Dobbins warns that fascist tactics are no longer theoretical but fully underway in the United States. She links present-day immigration enforcement practices and authoritarian violence to the unacknowledged American fascist history of Jim Crow, arguing that confronting this history exposes the roots of modern oppression, and reminds us that Americans have successfully defeated fascism before. Looking to Martin Luther King Jr.'s later strategic vision for the Civil Rights Movement, she calls for moving beyond protest to organized, nonviolent resistance that builds real power through solidarity, economic pressure, political engagement, and a revolution of values grounded in love and community.
Lay minister Jack Markman reflects on a childhood fear sparked by the Joker and reinforced by real-world anxieties, and explains how his later love of horror films became a way to practice fear safely, find catharsis, and learn resilience.
