✨ What makes this temple special? Unlike other Divya Desams that are separate temple complexes, ThirukKalvanoor is located inside the famous Kanchi Kamakshi Amman Temple. Many devotees visit the Golden Lizard and the Ambal but often miss this small, ancient shrine dedicated to Lord Vishnu.

📜 The Legend of "Kalvanoor" Why is the Lord called Kalvan (Thief)? Legend says that when Goddess Kamakshi was performing severe penance standing on one leg, Lord Vishnu (her brother) wanted to witness her devotion. He approached stealthily and stood hiding behind a pillar like a "Kalvan" (thief/stealthy person) to watch over her. Hence, the place is known as ThirukKalvanoor.

📍 How to find it? When you are inside the Kamakshi Amman temple, look for the shrine near the Golden Lizard / Gayatri Mandapam area on the right side of the sanctum. The Lord is seen in a standing posture facing west.

📜 "கள்வனூர்" - பெயர்க்காரணம் என்ன? இங்கு பெருமாளுக்கு ஏன் "கள்வன்" (திருடன்) என்று பெயர்? காமாட்சி அம்மன் சிவபெருமானை நோக்கி ஒற்றைக் காலில் கடுந்தவம் புரிந்தபோது, அவளுடைய அண்ணனான பெருமாள், தன் தங்கை படும் கஷ்டத்தை மறைந்து நின்று (ஒரு கள்வனைப் போல) பார்த்தாராம். மறைந்து நின்று பார்த்ததால், இந்த இடத்திற்கு திருக்கள்வனூர் என்று பெயர் வந்தது.

📍 சன்னதியை கண்டுபிடிப்பது எப்படி? காமாட்சி அம்மன் கோவிலுக்குள் இருக்கும் காயத்ரி மண்டபத்தின் வலது புறத்தில் (தங்க பல்லிக்கு அருகில்) ஒரு சிறிய சன்னதியில் பெருமாள் நின்ற கோலத்தில் காட்சி தருகிறார். அடுத்த முறை காஞ்சிபுரம் செல்லும்போது மறக்காமல் இவரை தரிசியுங்கள்!
