I changed my mind on Conor McGregor. For years, it’s been good business to question him, criticize him, and challenge whatever he says. But something shifted. Conor has stopped selling the “power” angle — the idea that he can make one phone call and control the UFC machine — and instead he’s letting the veil drop. He’s openly admitting he doesn’t have clarity on a fight, whether it’s the rumored White House card or later this summer. That’s new. Conor built his brand on dominance and leverage, becoming simultaneous UFC featherweight and lightweight champion in two of the toughest divisions in the sport. But now he’s presenting himself as a fighter who wants to compete and is waiting on the call. That vulnerability matters. In the fight business, contracts go both ways, and promotions are required to offer fights — but offers can be strategic. There’s value in keeping a star under contract, even if he isn’t active. If Conor is truly leveling with fans and asking for support instead of projecting power, that’s a different version of McGregor — and the sport is undeniably more exciting when he’s around. If he’s reaching out, I’ll say it first: I’ll help him.
