Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Wednesday spoke a few words in Khasi and Garo, seeking permission for members to speak in their local languages in the house as this would send a signal to the people that the legislature is not only demanding the inclusion of the two languages in the 8th Schedule of the Indian Constitution but also practising it.
