Bleeding Disorder Awareness Month | HWSK Awareness Seminar at Karachi University

Описание: Hemophilia Welfare Society Karachi Pakistan (HWSK-P) participated in a Hemophilia Awareness Seminar organized by the Pakistan Pharmacists Association -PPA Sindh (PPA), Centre, in collaboration with the Department of Pharmacology, University of Karachi, aimed at enhancing understanding of hemophilia and other bleeding disorders among students and healthcare professionals. HWSK expressed its appreciation to Prof. Dr. Afshan Siddiq for her leadership in organizing the seminar. Acknowledgment was also extended to Prof. Dr. Haris Shoaib, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, the Chairperson and faculty members of the Department of Pharmacology, and participating students whose presence and engagement contributed to the success of the event. The seminar session was delivered by Raheel Ahmed, Founder and CEO of HWSK, who highlighted the challenges faced by people living with hemophilia in Pakistan and stressed the importance of awareness, early diagnosis, and multidisciplinary care to improve patients' quality of life. During his presentation, he provided an overview of the supply and demand of clotting factor concentrates (CFCs), introduced the different types of factor therapies, and explained the importance of measured dosing in prophylaxis treatment regimens. He also discussed the national challenges related to the availability and accessibility of CFCs, emphasizing the critical role of the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan - DRAP (DRAP) and the pharmaceutical sector in ensuring sustainable and equitable access to life-saving treatment. HWSK also acknowledged the contributions of its team members, Dr. Nida, Abbas Ali, and Dr. Hiba, for supporting the informative and engaging session.
