This video is on the construction of the SL12 underpass, a part of the Verona-Padua HS railway line project. A reinforced concrete structure was prepared on-site for this underpass and subsequently moved into position using the jacked box tunnelling technique.
This method involves driving the concrete structure into the ground through sequential thrusts with hydraulic jacks, alternated with digging. The activity was facilitated by installing an Essen bridge, which ensured trains could run safely during the thrusts.
