Today a major protest took place against the recent notice issued by the National Medical Commission (NMC) regarding compensation rules for Foreign Medical Graduates (FMGs).

Recently, NMC clarified that any part of MBBS education completed online must be compensated through additional physical clinical training before FMGs can proceed with registration or internship in India. This clarification has raised serious concerns among FMG students who studied abroad during the COVID-19 pandemic, Russia-Ukraine war when many universities shifted temporarily to online classes.

Because of this rule, many FMGs fear delays or complications in internship eligibility, FMGE qualification, and medical registration in India.
