Akaretler Row Houses between Beşiktaş and Macka were established in the area where Şair Nedim and Süleyman Seba Streets meet in the form of a fork mouth and on a sloping land. Akaretler is the most important example of the mass housing type called row houses in Istanbul. The architect of the houses, the construction of which was started in January 1875 with the will of the will, is Sarkis Balyan. These houses were designed as rental houses and with the income to be obtained from them, it was planned to build the Aziziye Mosque in Maçka (the construction was unfinished since the Sultan Abdülaziz was dethroned, only the foundations of the building could be built).
