How MKO Abiola became Basorun of Ibadan Land

Описание: On Saturday February 7, 1987, one of Nigeria's richest business moguls of the era and a politician of repute, Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola was installed as the new BASORUN OF IBADAN LAND.

The City of Ibadan in Oyo state (South West Nigeria) came lively with the presence of dignitaries from all walks of life, coming to honor the new Basorun of Ibadan Land, and that was how MKO Abiola got his new nomenclature of B-A-S-O-R-U-N!

Basorun Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola dragged the who-is-who in the Nigerian high society of the 80s to his coronation as Basorun of Ibadan land; royal fathers, politicians, business men and diplomats made the day for MKO Abiola.

A former Nigerian Army General, late General Shehu Yar' Adua was one of the eminent personalities at the event. They all came from the west, south, north and east to honor the new Basorun of Ibadan land.

One man who was prominently in charge of activities at the occasion was Aare Musulumi of Yoruba land, Aare Azeez Alao Arisekola who happened to be MKO Abiola's best friend at the time. He was the Charge De Affairs and he played his role prominently to the admiration of many.

But 10 years down the line, when Basorun MKO Abiola was locked up in the jail house of the military junta of General Sani Abacha over his stolen mandate (annulled 1993 election by General Babangida), Aare Arisekola was closer to Abacha than he was to Abiola in 1987.

It was an irony of life, and this video will show you more of it.
