A SCOTTISH CHRISTMAS!: Our First Christmas Abroad!

If you ask any Scot what their favourite time of year in Edinburgh is, many will mention Christmas time. The events, the lights, the markets, the decorations, Edinburgh has it all and does it well! Even though Joe and I always went to either NYC or DC each year to enjoy the Christmas lights, they couldn't really compare to the magic of Edinburgh. In this video, I try to share some of that magic with you. :)

Princes Street and George Street shops and restaurants go all out in their decorations and the city council runs multiple events such as the Christmas Market, the Scottish Market, and the Light Show!

Even without the Christmas lights, Edinburgh has always had a way of making me feel like I'm in a Charles Dickens novel. So it came as no surprise to discover our beloved city was an inspiration to the author for his novel, A Christmas Carol.

Since this was our first Christmas abroad we decided to spend it with our friends Shane (from Canada) and Marie-Line (his wife, from Belgium). We each chose our favourite Christmas movie to watch and played a game where we took a drink of prosecco every time it looked like a character on TV wore the hat at the corner of the TV screen. My favourite Christmas movie is A Muppet's Christmas Carol, Joe's is Bad Santa, Marie-Lines' is The Nightmare Before Christmas, and Shane's is The Holiday. We also popped some crackers (in addition to the bottles) and played some Charades and Humbug.
