Walking the Netherlands 3 (#3): the nitrogen crisis and the Dutch farmers' uprising

Описание: Dutch agriculture is a miracle, but it also involves extremely intensive use of the land. One unfortunate byproduct of this is nitrogen pollution, which bit by bit has started seriously to threaten ecosystems across the Netherlands. However, the measures governments have tried to impose led to a series of impressive tractor-borne protests by farmers (and the BBB farmers' party even made it into government).

This video is about the nitrogen crisis (stikstofcrisis in Dutch) and how it sparked the tractor protests (which subsequently spread to other European countries where farmers were unhappy with environmental laws). But does the intensive way that the Netherlands uses its land and resources spell trouble for other sectors?

The video is the third of four from a walk that I did from Hook of Holland (Hoek van Holland) to Delft. In total I did ten walks across parts of the Netherlands for my book.
