This video is a short clip from the end of our previously released video '8 SECOND NOVA' ( • 8 SECOND NOVA | Street Legal Drag Racing i... ). This particular clip is intended for those of you who couldn't last the whole 5 minutes to see it through to the very end. Ha-Ha!
A violent launch and great recovery by experienced driver Bob Langford...no lifting there! Credit goes to Paul Stewart for a strong (safe) tune-up which pushed that factory production SBC to the very limits. Special thanks to crew member Derrick Parsons for the amazing up-close video camera coverage.
Someone recently asked me, "Hey, what was the fastest that car ever went?"
My reply was, "Fast enough that you would fill an ultra-absorbent Depends!"
Please keep in mind that the raw footage was recorded with the best technology available at the time (VHS camcorder). The original tapes are more than 20 years old and have been digitally transferred to obtain the content for this video.
