On the 6th day after grafting larvae to become the new queens it is time for caging queen cells. The queen cells are caged because when nectar flow erupts the bees will surely build comb around those queen cells, which makes it hard to collect or to emerge from.
Also if one of the larvae was a bit older than the rest, the queen bee can emerge early and she will surely try to sting the other queens in their queen cells. Sometimes the bees even decide to break down the other queen cells when the first virgin queen is born.
