This is a quick and easy vegetarian dish commonly made in every Gujarati house in India. Basic ingredients and basic method will save your time. It can be eaten with warm plain rice or even as soup.
Ingredients
1 cup whole green gram (soak 5-6 hours, washed and boiled)
1 cup sour yogurt/curd (must be sour)
1/2 turmeric
1 tbsp chick pea powder
1 tsp mustard
1/2 tsp cumin
1-3 strings of curry leaves
a pinch of Asafoetida
1 tsp chopped ginger
1tsp chopped garlic
1 1/2 tsp finely chopped green chillies
Salt to taste
fresh coriander to garnish
Water if needed
1 tsp garam masala
