This has to be one of my favourite places now! the great footpath following the magical stream towards the Avon Dam
You can either just stay near the stream or continue onto the exposed pathway to the Dam
Accompanied by sheep and open countryside.
Please be mindful that the second part is exposed so please check the weather and have the necessary clothing or blanket ect.
This route is described as 5km and can take 1. 5 hours
The drive to the car park is down some narrow lanes. The route to the right of the car park has more passing places than the left. I found the right side far better and easier.
There is a gravel car park with a disabled toilet and they do have a coffee and snack wagon that comes around 10.30 but there days differ. So please bring a drink ect just in case.
Also up date your car parking app as signal not great there.
The pathway follows the stream and then goes to the moors where there are sheep roaming around.
Some of the tarmac does have big holes in in places so please be careful where you go.
There are no amenities at the foot of the dam.
Very quiet and peaceful, you may be in luck in hearing the resident cuckoo
We really enjoyed it here and it definitely has a feeling of magic along the riverside.
