Back in the capital we go! 🇩🇴 In this week’s video we return to Santo Domingo, but this time we’re heading back to the heart of it all — the historic Zona Colonial.

We’ve been spending more time in the modern neighbourhoods lately (hello shiny high-rises and ocean views 👀), so it felt like the perfect moment to revisit the Colonial Zone. Filmed on a Sunday, the day started out calm and quiet… but by late afternoon the streets were buzzing with energy, music, and locals out enjoying the weekend.

We wander the iconic pedestrian street Calle El Conde, make our way through Parque Colón (right beside the famous cathedral), and soak in the atmosphere that makes this part of the city so special.

Of course, we had to grab a bite — delicious empanadas from La Bendita hit the spot — and later we stopped for a cold Dominican beer at EraOra, which might just be one of the best people-watching spots in the area.

Along the way we:
• Ran into some amazing subscribers (always the highlight!)
• Stumbled across a surprise parade… with horses 🐎
• Checked in on the Monasterio de San Francisco, which appears to be under construction
• Watched the streets transform from peaceful morning stroll to lively Sunday evening vibes

We’ve covered most of the big historical attractions in past videos, so this one is more about the feel of the city — what it’s like to simply explore, eat, wander, and experience Santo Domingo as it unfolds throughout the day.
