MoHUA Launches Dumpsite Remediation Accelerator Programme (DRAP)

Описание: The Dumpsite Remediation Accelerator Programme (DRAP) under Swachh Bharat Mission–Urban 2.0 is a year-long initiative which aims to fast-track the clearance of legacy waste dumpsites and reclaim valuable urban land for green spaces and community use.

Today, nearly 80% of the legacy waste is concentrated in 214 dumpsites across 202 cities. DRAP will prioritize these high-impact locations, targeting remediation of approximately 8.8 crore metric tonnes of waste while ensuring that no new dumpsites emerge.

The programme is MoHUA’s commitment to achieving Lakshya Zero Dumpsites by September 2026, under Swachh Bharat Mission-Urban 2.0. With DRAP, we take one more step closer to achieving Garbage Free Cities powered by 5Ps - Political leadership, Public financing, Partnerships, People’s participation and Project management.

In the past 4 years, under SBM – U 2.0, more than 60% of India’s legacy waste has already been remediated. Cities are on their way to become dumpsite free zones. Now, DRAP will ensure the fast-track remediation of selected high-volume sites that have 80% of the remaining legacy waste situated in them.
