Trackmania 2 Stadium B04 - 28.277 by Cato & Comparison

Описание: Finally managed to crack this one. It is probably my most played, and now also second most valuable Track in the Solo Campaign, netting me just above 1,2 million SP.
This was the first map i hunted back when i started my Campaign grind. I figured it'd be a good place to improve, as i've gotten better since. Back then, i clocked in a 28.450 and moved on. At first, i actually had a really hard time going faster than this, but when i figured out how to do the uphill dirt-turn properly, i managed to drive a .368 run. My end was pretty bad on this one, so out of curiousity, i downloaded some replays from TMX. It turned out, that up until the Transition-turn at 00:20, my .368 run was actually equalling a .297 by Loupphok, and so the hunt began. A lot of hours and failed attempts later, this one happened.

WALKTHROUGH OF THE RUN: Actually quite a weird run, as many of the lines are very different from how i usually drove this, which can also be seen in the comparison. I'm very happy with my start aswell as the uphill dirt-turn. The first "major" mistake happens in the last dirt turn, where i go very far to the right, and wait a bit too long before i start steering left. The longer line results in all the comparison-runs overtaking me around 00:48. However, going that far to the right gives you more room to play with, so i exit the turn with very good speed, meaning that i don't lose too much from it overall. Right after the tent-jump i could've gone a little tighter in the turn, which would probably give a few thousands. Next up, we have the downwards jump into a turn. Again, the line in my PB differs a lot from previous attempts. I go very tight, meaning that i get a wide exit, and lose some time due to the longer line. But the minimized airtime means that i carry through a lot of speed, and combined with a tight last turn, i almost catch up to Vulnerras .252 run before the dirt stretch. On the last dirt stretch you want to land left, on the hightened part of the dirt, as this gives a little speedboost. As you can see, Vulnerra does this on his run, and i don't. Combined with a very nice line from him, this is the major reason for the 0.025 difference between the runs.
It should be mentioned that my PB is a meere thousand of a second faster than the old 9'th position, and only 4 thousands slower than the current 8'th. So every detail matters!
