Enterotoxemia (Overeating Disease) of Sheep and Goats
Enterotoxemia, also known as overeating or pulpy kidney disease, is a condition caused by Clostridium perfringens type D. These bacteria are normally found in the soil and as part of the normal microflora in the gastrointestinal tract of healthy sheep and goats.
Enterotoxemia is a condition induced by the absorption of large volumes of toxins produced by bacteria such as Clostridum perfringens from the intestines. There are several strains of C. perfringens that may lead to the development of this gastrointestinal condition.
