The first half of this video is an image review and discussion of the photographs I took on my most recent trip to Paris and London. The second half is a story about the worst 24 hours of my life, which involved an 11-hour flight and multiple destroyed bathrooms. Good times.

I originally planned to exclusively shoot analog film on my Europe trip. I was going to bring my Fujifilm GA645Zi medium format rangefinder camera and a big ol' bag of color negative film. It was going to be romantic, nostalgic, unique. But then I didn't do it. As I got closer to the trip, I realized how impractical it would be.

Now don't get me wrong, if practicality was my primary motivation in life, I wouldn't be a photographer - and I especially wouldn't be one who shoots film. But everyone has a threshold. Five x-ray machine security checkpoints and dim winter light were going to be more than I wanted to deal with while also carting around too much luggage in frigid temps.

So I traded my Fujifilm for a Fujifilm. That is, I traded my GA645Zi for an X-Pro2.

Generally speaking, I don't get excited about digital cameras. All cameras are good now. They're all basically the same. And most of them are boring as hell. But the X-Pro2 touches me in a special way (not that way). For some reason, the X-Pro2 gets me excited to take pictures. Maybe it's the external control dials or the vintage-camera aesthetics or the film simulation modes, but whatever it is, I just dig it.

I've been drooling over the graphite X-Pro2 for a couple years now but never had a good enough reason to spring for it. So I took this trip as the golden opportunity to justify dropping the dough. Along with it I bought the matching 23mm f/2 lens and an 18-55mm f/2.8-4 zoom. I love that 23mm. It's compact, fast, and most importantly it matches the graphite camera body!

The X-Pro2 was the perfect tool for this job and I'm happy to say that I'm very pleased with my purchase. But this trip wasn't all about this new mirrorless digital camera craze everyone's talking about. I did actually shoot some film on this trip. I brought my Mint SLR 670-S Polaroid camera and a few packs of film to capture those analog VIBES I'm always chasing.

These two compact cameras were packed in my Tenba DNA Messenger 15 Slim bag which, I must say, I am absolutely smitten with. It's my new favorite bag. Silent velcro, top zipper access, tons of pockets, and damn-good waterproofing...yeah it's a good product.

Enjoy the images, enjoy the story, and thanks for watching!
