Former Victoria Police Chief Commissioner Simon Overland has contradicted sworn evidence from his predecessor at the Lawyer X royal commission.
Christine Nixon said she wasn't told gangland lawyer Nicola Gobbo had been signed up as a police informer.
But after the discovery of three missing diaries, Mr Overland now says he did brief his boss on Ms Gobbo's secret role.
