In this episode we take the train from Argentiere to Chamonix Mont Blanc station then take a short walk to catch the historic cog wheel train - Monteners Mer de Glace. This fabulous 70 year old train climbs slowly up through forest and tunnels, and in our case clouds. We broke out of the clouds at the top to breathtakinf views of the surrounding alps and down to the Mer De Glace (AKA Sea of Ice). We then took the gondola down to explore the Ice Caves, then climbed back up the 183 steps to take the gondola back up to Montenvers ready to tackle the Balcon Nord- which we share in the next episode.
