As a historical costumer I often am inspired by tv, movies and books. Sometimes I'm inspired to just find out more about the fashions of an era, sometimes to actually make a costume inspired by a character.
Recently I like millions of others watched Bridgerton on Netflix and it inspired me to dig into regency fashions from the 18 teens a bit more and make something new. I have made a few regency dresses in the past but they are all earlier than this one. I was really inspired by the gorgeous powdery blue color palette of Daphne's gowns in the show and wanted to make a day gown in that color palette, something leaning towards historical accuracy as far as I can make it with the skills and materials I have.
