PORSCHE LEAVING THE WEC! Opinions on Porsche's Decision to Leave World Endurance

Описание: It's a disappointing thing to read, but necessary. Everyone is saddened, but they're not surprised.

With Porsche and the VW-Audi Group losing money hand over fist it's no surprise that Porsche will only be running in the IMSA Sportscar Championship and Formula E next year. Hopefully that paves the way for a return in 2027 but who even knows at this point? Lamborghini is also done in the LMDH/Hypercar Category. Both VW-Audi brands, as it so happens.

But there's also the BOP. It's less of an issue compared to the losses but it's shown that the WEC hasn't been particularly well run in the last 12 months or so. Confusing BOP rules and everything else, with the series attracting criticism that it's 'Ferrari's turn' to win.

So, why pull out of the WEC, and not Formula E? What about Audi in Formula One? And will the WEC still be as fun without Porsche still in? It's like your Sunday roast without a Yorkshire pudding. You can still have it, but it won't be the same. Because a very integral part will be gone.
