The Morgan Silver Dollar is one of most iconic and collectible U.S. coins associated with the Wild West.

Infamous outlaws like Jesse and Frank James as well as Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid often stole these large Silver coins and that sharpshooter Annie Oakley would take pot shot at the Morgan silver dollar in her spare time. If you come across any holed Morgan Dollars you may be holding one that was shot by this very lady.

When this coin was around Wyatt Earp would of used this money to pay for drinks or gamble with cards. A legend exists of Billy the Kid, who was carrying a brand new Morgan Silver Dollar in his pocket the night Pat Garrett tracked him down and shot him.

Anyone who has a Morgan Silver Dollar in their collection may actually have a coin that passed through the hands of one of America’s most notorious Wild West outlaws! That would be amazing. Cowboys in the old west use to drop Morgan Silver Dollars in their canteens to preserve water on long trips.

So much history related to this coin and we may only know a small of part of it. This is truly a special piece and one of the most beautiful with the exception of the capped bust and flowing hair.
