‘We have to fight with our cinema,’ says director of Chronicles from the Siege at Berlinale

Описание: Chronicles from the Siege, directed by Syrian-Palestinian filmmaker Abdallah Al-Khatib, was one of the only Syrian-Palestinian films in this year’s Berlinale programme. Al-Khatib is also known for directing the acclaimed documentary Little Palestine.

The film depicts the impact of the Israeli siege on the lives of a group of ordinary people, forcing each of them to confront impossible choices in their pursuit of survival in a war zone.

Al-Khatib told Middle East Eye that he wanted to be at the Berlinale because he felt that “they are not so much welcoming to Palestinians”.

“Our task as Palestinian filmmakers is to be exactly in this place and to speak about Palestine,” he added.
