We’ve seen people dismissed, mocked, or treated unfairly. Most have either stayed silent or, in some cases, spoken out and lost their jobs.

Here’s the truth: it matters what people say, and it matters what happens to those who say it—or fail to correct it. The real issue isn’t just about the offender; it’s about those in power who lack judgment and empathy. If you can’t recognize when something needs to be bleeped, you shouldn’t be in a position of authority. It’s time to remove those who lack common sense and basic human decency—and the people who put them there.

For those standing by while this happens: your silence speaks volumes. Use your voice! The burden shouldn’t fall on those affected to speak out. So, why am I talking about the BAFTAs? Because the same inappropriate language and actions happen in workplaces every day, and no one seems accountable for correcting them.

If you find yourself in such an organization, document everything and consider taking your skills elsewhere. You deserve to be valued.
