My wife and I decided that it would be a wiser choice to stay at a hotel the night before we flew out to Japan so we wouldn't have to get up super early to drive in from Riverside.
Since I had enough miles, I booked a room at the H Hotel at LAX. It is a property that is right next to the airport, has a round the clock shuttle to LAX, and had a very unique feature - a 12th floor observation deck.
Yes, you can get on the roof and watch both major runways at LAX, so if you are a plane buff, you can get a really nice bonus. Also, we have a room tour of our room in 1103.
