John 2 (Water Turned to Wine, Jesus Declared His Death and Resurrection, Jesus Knows a Man’s Heart)

Описание: As we continue our study through the Gospel of John, Chapter 2 begins three days after the meeting with Nathanael in Chapter 1, Jesus is in Cana with his mother. This is the seventh day of Jesus’ public ministry, and it seems appropriate that the first of Jesus’ miracles would occur on the seventh day of His ministry. In fact, John generally does not include specific time references in his
Gospel. This suggests that John had reasons to make clear that this event happened on Jesus’ seventh day of ministry. We remember that John began his Gospel with obvious
references to the first chapter of Genesis, and if we think back to that first chapter, we also find that the chapter is structured as a series of six days. And the start of the second chapter of Genesis is Day 7. Likewise, we see the next chapter of John starting on Day seven of Jesus’ ministry. There may be no more significance than simply emphasizing once more that Jesus is the Creator.

1 Corinthians 15:3-4, where it says, 3 “For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures,”

Ephesians 2:8-9, 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith (through simply believing), and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works (there is nothing you can do of yourself to be worthy), lest anyone should boast.

Romans 10:9-10, 9 “that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”

Jesus Himself said in Matthew 7:13-14, 13 “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. 14 Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.”

That gate, that door, is Jesus. Sadly, few find it. But for those who do find and choose it, they will find peace and eternal life, growth and increase “pasture”

Jesus said in John 10:9, “I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture.”

Know that your eternity is secure. Choose today whom you will serve. Tomorrow is not promised.
