On Saturday, Oct. 11, the City of Bakersfield's Code Enforcement, along with Bakersfield Police, the California Highway Patrol and multiple county agencies, responded to an unpermitted swap meet in the area of Casa Loma Drive and S. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
The location is split between City and county lines.
Officials made contact with 30 vendors, providing information on how to become licensed with the City or county. They were also made aware of discount vouchers to operate at the Kern County Swap Meet at the Kern County Fairgrounds.
Among the issues at this site were health and safety concerns, traffic hazards and public nuisances.
