Waterfall Flow Control: Randomly Scattered by Water or a Deliberate Ancient Stone Construction?

Описание: The force of water can move huge rocks, but here might be an example of stones deliberately placed in a waterfall stream with the intention of altering and slowing the flow. A pile of large stones is placed on the trail immediately above this spot. It was when I was photographing this pile I noticed what looks like stacked and laid stone in the stream. There are miles of stone walls that run up and down the entirety of this hilly section of Northern NJ. Could it be there are “walls” in the streams as well? This isn’t a typical stone sluice way, but it seems to work just the same, even if it is all the work of nature.
