A passenger view of the picturesque Ravensglass and Eskdale Railway, running from the Cumbrian coast to the village of Boot in the Lake District.
The 7 mile heritage railway has a 15 inch gauge was originally constructed in the 1870s to transport iron ore from the mines near Boot down to the Cumbrian Coast Line connection at Ravenglass.
The video was recorded earlier today, 24th August 2016. It was another scorcher with beautiful wide blue skies and very few clouds. The River Mite estuary, which merges with the River Esk just before reaching the Irish Sea, looked stunning with its golden sands, lush greenery and abundant wildlife.
After taking the 80 minute return journey from Ravenglass to Dalegarth I decided to partake in a couple of pints at The Ratty Arms. It cost me about £8 for a pint of Orkney Brewery's Northern Light and a crab sandwich, which is pretty good value. Good quality and friendly service too, so hat tip to The Ratty Arms.
