A little montage of stagedoor conversations with the oh-so-wonderful cast members of the US tour of The Phantom of the Opera on New Year's Day 2009. This was the fourth time I'd been to the stagedoor during this run (and my ninth time overall), which explains why most of the principals recognized me.
Additional notes:
Raoul (my camera, I mean) is a Flip Video Mino.
I apologize for how many times I use some variation of "You were wonderful, as always." I was giddy and euphoric and not thinking clearly enough to come up with anything clever or unique. I meant it every time, though, I truly did.
I also apologize for my horrible manvoice. And my tendency to ramble. And the shakiness of the footage. And the pimple on my nose. And anything else that bothers you.
I've named my family's new laptop Carlotta in honor of Kim Stengel. I doubt she remembers ever having this conversation with me, but I don't care.
I was totally caught off-guard when John Cudia remembered me from nearly a month prior, which is why my reaction to him seems oddly lackluster. I wasn't bored, I was shocked.
The thing Trista Moldovan asks me if I received is an autographed Playbill that she sent me because she's outrageously nice like that. It arrived the next day, along with a sweet note from her.
I timidly asked John Cudia if Kyle Barisich was inside giving a tour or had gone home already, and he immediately offered to go inside and find out for me. How sweet is that??
All of these people are obscenely talented and extraordinarily kind. See them live if you can, search for them on YouTube at least. I adore every one of them. They made that run in San Francisco six of the best weeks of my life and I am eternally grateful.
