In December I was invited by a Karen friend to his village, Khun Mae La Noi, which is on the border between Mae Hong Son and Chiang Mai provinces. I stayed with the Karen people for 3 days and it was a great experience. The Karen hill tribe is the largest hill tribe group in Thailand with a population estimated to be around 1 million. The Karen live primarily along the Thai-Myanmar border in the provinces of Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai.
