Cancel Culture critics insist the movement to remove controversial names, symbols and objects has gone too far and is restricting the free exchange of ideas.
An increasing number of colonial statues are being torn down and brand names changed in the wake of the Black Lives Matter protests.
Schools have been renamed and products such as Aunt Jemima, Uncle Ben’s and Land O’Lakes butter have been attacked along with Goya food company and Facebook.
In response to this movement, 153 prominent artists and intellectuals including Noam Chomsky and J.K. Rowling signed a letter warning against an intolerance of opposing views.
