Shirui Lily Festival: Bikers ride carrying message of peace, MLAs from valley reach Ukhrul

Over 160 bikers from across Manipur and other states gathered in Ukhrul on May 23 to spread the message of peace. The culmination took place during the Peace Bike Rally, which kicked off from Bakshi Ground as part of the ongoing 5th edition of the Shirui Lily Festival.

Organised by Hao Riders of Ukhrul, the rally saw riders from Manipur, Assam, Kerala, Goa, and Kolkata gather to symbolise the rally’s theme: “Let peace bloom like Shirui Lily.” Deputy Commissioner of the district,

With roaring engines and fluttering peace flags, bikers rallied across Ukhrul town and the scenic Shirui village—the main venue for the festival—as well as Jorcheng, before culminating at TK Wood, the designated base camp of the bikers.

Another attraction of the festival was the Shirui Lily Festival Grand Prix—the downhill wooden cart race—which was held at Heritage Ground in Vangayan.

Meanwhile, seven MLAs from the state’s valley areas, including Manipur Legislative Speaker Th. Satyabrata Singh travelled to Ukhrul by road to attend the festival. Speaking to EastMojo, Heirok MLA Thokchom Radheshyam Singh said that the festival will help bring peace and restore normalcy in the state.
