After the Dolomites, a stop at the sea is a must.
And what better location than the Island of Elba, a special place that I know well, since together with Silvia we have been around it far and wide.
This year I decided to take my bike with me and I must say that it was an amazing choice.
I was really impressed by the variety of routes that you can take on a road bike.
Normally the island is known much more for MTB as it is one of the most important Gran Fondo MTBs, but I can assure you that even on BDC there is a lot of fun to be had.
As far as the period is concerned, I would recommend September/October because the island is much more liveable than the peak months.
This year has been a bit particular, because of COVID-19, most Italians stayed at home, so even in September it was completely sold-out.
If you are passing through Elba my advice is to bring your bike and enjoy the breathtaking scenery, there are so many climbs to tackle and routes to choose from with all kinds of gradients, from the classic ''eat and drink'' to short but really challenging climbs like Volterraio and Monte Tambone.
