This is a numerical simulation of shock wave passing through a Y-Split. The video shows a schlieren map of the shocktube. The movie also shows the Mach reflection and the turbulence created in the bifurcated region, which dissipates the wave energy and thus the over pressure is reduced to half as compared to no bifurcation.
