১৯৭৪ সালের মাঝামাঝি সময়ে মেজর ডালিমের খালাতো বোন তাহ্‌মিনার বিয়ে হয় কর্নেল রেজার সঙ্গে, যার পুরো আয়োজন ও মধ্যস্থতা করছিলেন মেজর ডালিম এবং তার স্ত্রী নিম্মী। বিয়ের দিন মেজর ডালিমের শ্যালক বাপ্পি, যিনি আমেরিকা থেকে এসেছিলেন, তার সঙ্গে রেডক্রসের চেয়ারম্যান গাজী গোলাম মোস্তফার দুই ছেলের কথাকাটাকাটি হয়।কথাকাটাকাটির কিছুক্ষণ পর গাজী গোলাম মোস্তফা এবং অস্ত্রধারী কিছু ব্যক্তি মাইক্রোবাস থেকে এসে মুক্তিযোদ্ধা আলম এবং চুল্লুকে জোর করে মাইক্রোবাসে তুলে নেন। মেজর ডালিমের স্ত্রী নিম্মী স্বামীকে একা যেতে দিতে রাজি হননি, তাই তিনিও মাইক্রোবাসে ওঠেন।তাদের সঙ্গে মেজর ডালিমের খালামনিও ছিলেন।অপহরণের পর তাদের সবাইকে বঙ্গবন্ধু ভবনে নিয়ে যাওয়া হয়।

In the mid-1974, Major Dalim's cousin sister, Tahmina, got married to Colonel Reza, with the full arrangement and mediation done by Major Dalim and his wife, Nimmi. On the wedding day, Major Dalim's brother-in-law, Bappi, who had come from the USA, had an argument with two sons of Gazi Golam Mostafa, the Chairman of the Red Cross. After the argument, a few armed men and Gazi Golam Mostafa arrived in microbuses and a car. They forcibly took freedom fighters Alam and Chullu into the microbus. Chullu was hit on the face with a rifle butt, causing bleeding. They then forcibly took Major Dalim as well. His wife Nimmi, not willing to let her husband go alone, joined him in the microbus. Major Dalim's maternal aunt was also with them. After the abduction, they were all taken to Bangabandhu Bhaban.

From the failure to punish Gazi Golam Mostofa for the abduction of Major Dalim and his wife Nimmi to the mysterious disappearance and killing of filmmaker Jahir Raihan, many questions about justice and accountability remain unanswered. The state-sponsored killings of intellectuals in 1971 and the interference of Indian RAW during the liberation war further complicate the historical landscape. Moreover, Sheikh Mujib’s autocratic rule under the BAKSAL party not only destroyed the democratic fabric of the newly independent Bangladesh but also led to a decline in his own popularity. The questions surrounding his role in the abduction of Dalim, the killing of Shiraz Shikdar, and the lack of action on critical national issues paint a picture of a leader who failed to fully live up to the promises of independence.
