Описание: This video features Trains, Trams, and Steam Traction at Birmingham Snow Hill Station (Recorded Sunday 13th August 2023). Steam was provided by 5043 ‘Earl of Mount Edgcumbe’ who was operating the Shakespeare Express which runs between Snow Hill and Stratford Upon Avon on Sundays during the peak summer months. There were a selection of Urbos 3 Trams of the West Midlands Metro System which operate between the cities of Birmingham and Wolverhampton. Finally, the video features Class 172 Turbostar DMU’s of West Midlands Railways which provide services to destinations such as Worcester, Stourbridge Junction, Dorridge, and Stratford Upon Avon. Once a very grand and prestigious station, Birmingham Snow Hill became superfluous to requirements following British Rails decision to electrify the route from London Euston to neighbouring Birmingham New Street. This led to the station’s eventual closure in 1972 and its demolition five years later. After fifteen years of closure, a new Snow Hill Station, the present incarnation, was built opening in 1987. Today, most of the trains using Snow Hill are local services serving a number of West Midlands destinations and it is pleasing to see that nearly 2.5 million passengers are using it every year, although numbers were as high as five and a half million before the pandemic of 2020. I hope you enjoy the video.
