James Orengo has called for a strong and independent Law Society of Kenya (LSK), warning that Kenya risks sliding back into an “imperial presidency” if constitutional safeguards are not upheld.
Speaking after voting in the LSK national elections, the Siaya Governor described the process as smooth, transparent and well-managed, expressing hope that similar standards will be upheld in the 2027 General Election.
Orengo emphasized the LSK’s historic watchdog role, urging the incoming leadership to defend the Constitution, strengthen oversight, and safeguard democracy. He also praised outgoing LSK President Faith Odhiambo for her bold and independent leadership.
